PLEASE READ AND VIEW PHOTOS BELOW BEFORE BIDDING:
You are bidding on a vintage, extremely hard to find, fully working, with user manuals, cords, floppies, etc...it is the first color compact Apple Macintosh computer...that's right! You are bidding on the Apple Macintosh Color Classic Desktop! This computer, according to my ex tenant, has not been used for about a decade. That is perhaps why it is in such wonderful condition. It was left to me as a gift and will part with it if the price is right. According to the previous owner, he bought this computer around 1993 and it works perfectly. I have never owned a Macintosh computer but was able to easily connect it, turn it on and see that it is a fully functioning computer. When i turned on the computer, i received a message indicating that the date on the machine was incorrect. I clicked OK to this message and the OS finished loading pretty quickly. I then opened a word document on the Mac and tested all keys on the keyboard. All works perfectly. I do not know what Operating System is on this Mac. If you can guide me, I'd be willing to give that information to you. The Screen looks like it is in absolutely wonderful condition. This computer comes with two mice. Also you get a Linksys ParaSCSI Plus parallel-to-SCSI Converter cable. Plus more...please read below for more detail.
According to the pamphlet that was boxed with the user manual...the specifications of this machine are as followed:
Processor: MC68030, 32-bit architecture, 16 megahertz (MHz) clock frequency (including built-in memory management unit). Provides internal socket for an optional floating-point unit.
Memory: 4 megabytes (MB) of random-access memory (RAM), expandable to 10 MB. 1 MB or read-only memory (ROM). 256 bytes of parameter memory.
Video RAM: 256K video RAM, upgradable to 512K. With 256K video RAM, these video modes are supported: 512 x 384 pixels with 1,2,4, and 8 bits per pixel. With 512K video RAM, these video modes are supported: 512 x 384 pixels with 1,2,4, 8 and 16 bits per pixel.
Here is more from another booklet that came with this computer:
What you get:
So many things come with this computer and I do not know what all of it is. There are lots of Macintosh floppies that state: "Install me first", "Install", "Install 2", "DISK Tools Macintosh Color Classic", "Fonts", "Printing", and "Tidbits". These floppies look like they came with the computer. This system also comes with a Linksys ParaSCSI Plus parallel-to-SCSI Converter cable. This cable comes with a user guide as well and a floppy. There is also a ParaSCSI Plus Installation disk for Windows 95 dated 3/17/96 and this particular floppy looks like it was created by the previous owner. The Linksys cable looks like it has never been used and its model number is: PSCEPP. Along with the Linksys manual...the previous owner also printed out paper from the Linksys website about using this particular cable. There also two diskettes in their original, unopened, packaging. One is an AOL for Windows Version 3.0 package and the other package states: GNN, A revolution is at Hand. On the back of this package it states: The Global Network Navigator service is the fastest, easiest, most comprehensive Internet solution available. Check photos below. There is also a CHEYENNE Communications user guide along with two floppy diskettes. There are more floppies that appear to have been created by the previous owner such as Syquest Backup utility for Win 95. I have tested the keyboard and from the brief time i used it....the keyboard works flawlessly. I was able to open a word document on the Mac and tested all the keys on the keyboard. I was also able to shut down the computer from the keyboard. I also tested the floppy drive on this computer and it was able to read the diskettes...please see photos of this below. This computer comes with two mice. One appears to be unused and it is not a Macintosh mouse. It is called Mouse Systems. The other mouse that comes with this computer is a Macintosh mouse and has tape underneath it and i think this was done so that the trackball inside the mouse would not fall out. You may want to use the other mouse as i had slight difficulty using the Mac mouse...or maybe i am not used to a mouse with a trackball ;-). Please also note that the Macintosh Essentials box also comes with more books that are not pictured below such as "Read this First" book from Apple Titled: "Getting Started With Your Macintosh Color Classic". Other books include "Desk Writer Printer for the Apple Macintosh computers" from Hewlett Packard. There is the Setup Guide book as well as the User's Guide. These books come with four (4) HP floppy diskettes for the Macintosh computer.Well, that is about it. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. I really do not know much about this system but will do my best to answer any questions you may have.
Payment, Packaging, and Shipping info: Your computer and all the extras will be shipped to you with the up-most care. No packaging on the cheap....this computer is in wonderful condition and that is exactly the way you will receive it. I will use A LOT of packaging material. Here are the photos. Happy bidding, remember, you will not find anything like this again:
As you can see from the photo below, Microsoft word and Norton utilities is installed on this computer. I believe Excel is installed as well.
Opening up a word document and testing out the keyboard, flawless:
Placed a floppy diskette in the drive and Disk tools popped up right away. When you shut down the computer, the diskette pops out automatically, impressive:
Tape underneath the Mac mouse. The other mouse that was in the box looks like it has never been used:
Its like i just opened up a time capsule. Here we see the Linksys cable, manuals, unopened AOL and GNN software, etc:
